Linear is the answer

For quadratic either the x or y would need to be raised to the 2nd power which they aren’t

Same for exponential ( no variables are raised to any exponent)

The are no brackets representing taking the absolute value of any variable so that can’t be right

You can always test a few values for x to graph the y result to see that in this case it does graph a line

Find the slope of line passing through the two points, (3, -4) and (1, 2).
mariarad [96]

Answer:

m = -3

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for slope is m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

So use the x's and y's from the given points to solve for m

(3, -4) (1, 2)

m=\frac{2-(-4)}{1-3}

m= \frac{6}{-2}

m=-3

3. Laura walks 3/5 mile to school each day. Isaiah walk to school is 3 times as long as Laura's. Howfar does Isaiah walk to scho
Finger [1]
Lets write down what we know...

Laura walks 3/5 mile to school everyday

Laura=3/5mile

Isaiah's walk is 3 times as long as Lauras, so

Isaiah=Laura*3

We know how far Lauras walk is so we can solve for Isaiah's walk

Isaiah=3/5*3 (or Isaiah=3/5+3/5+3/5 if thats easier for you to solve for)
Isaiah=9/5 miles

Now we know the answer! Great, Isaiah walks 9/5 miles to school each day. But 9/5 is an improper fraction, so lets convert it to a mixed number.

9/5=

To solve for this, we have to find out how many times 5 can go into 9. 5 goes into 9 one time with a remainder of 4, so we can write the mixed number as.

9/5= 1 4/5

Isaiah walks 9/5miles or 1 4/5 miles. Both are correct.

Does this graph show a function? Explain how you know.
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer: D. No; the graph fails the vertical line test.

The vertical line test is a tool used to determine if we have a function. If we can draw a single straight vertical line through more than one point on the red curve, then the graph is said to have failed the vertical line test. Consequently, this leads to the relation not being a function.

For this circle graph, we can draw a vertical line through more than one point, which is why we don't have a function here.

Put another way, there are inputs (x) that produce more than one output (y), so that's why we don't have a function.
