Given:

If you divide any natural number n by 4, you get a remainder r.

To find:

The values of r if n=13;34;43;100. Also find the domain and range.

Solution:

It is given that any natural number n by 4, you get a remainder r.

\dfrac{n}{4}=q+\dfrac{r}{4}

Where, n is a natural number, q is quotient, r is the remainder.

For n=13,

\dfrac{13}{4}=3+\dfrac{1}{4}

So, r=1.

For n=34,

\dfrac{34}{4}=8+\dfrac{2}{4}

So, r=2.

For n=43,

\dfrac{43}{4}=10+\dfrac{3}{4}

So, r=3.

For n=100,

\dfrac{100}{4}=25+\dfrac{0}{4}

So, r=0.

Therefore, the required value are r=1,2,3,0 if n=13;34;43;100 respectively.

The domain of the function is \{13,34,43,100\} and the range of the function is \{1,2,3,0\}.

What is an equation of the line that passes through the point (-5, -3) and is
bija089 [108]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  3x +5y = -30

Step-by-step explanation:

The parallel line can have the same x- and y-coefficients. You can find the value of the new constant by using the given point for x and y:

  3x +5y = 3(-5) +5(-3) = -30

  3x +5y = -30

The lines (m-2)x+y=2 and mx+2y=k intersect at (2,8). Find the values of m and k
Lerok [7]

Step-by-step explanation:

(m - 2)x + y = 2

y = -(m - 2)x + 2

8 = -(m - 2)(2) + 2

6 = -(m - 2)(2)

3 = -(m - 2)

-3 = m - 2

-1 = m

mx + 2y = k

2y = -mx + k

y =  -  \frac{1}{2} mx +  \frac{k}{2}  \\ y =  \frac{1}{2} x +  \frac{k}{2}  \\ 8 =  \frac{1}{2} (2) +  \frac{k}{2}  \\ 7 =  \frac{k}{2}  \\ 14 = k

On Monday a Farmer sold 25196 pounds of potatoes on tuesday he sold 18023pounds on Wednesday he sold some more potatoes in all h
arlik [135]

Answer:

<em>estimated sales on Wednesday is 19000 pounds.</em>

<em></em>

Step-by-step explanation:

On Monday, he sold 25196 pounds. Estimated to the nearest thousand that is 25000 pounds.

On Tuesday, he sold 18023 pounds. Estimated to the nearest thousand, that is 18000 pounds

Wednesday's sales is unknown. We designate as x

All in all he sold 62409. Estimated to the nearest thousand, that is 62000

The sales on Monday, plus sales on  Tuesday, plus sales on Wednesday, must all sum up to the total sales.

25000 + 18000 + x = 62000

43000 + x = 62000

x = 62000 - 43000 = 19000

therefore <em>estimated sales on Wednesday is 19000 pounds.</em>

Find the square root of 201.64 by division method
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Steps involved in finding square root using division method:

  1. Group the digits of the number in pairs. You will start pairing from the decimal point and move away from the decimal point. E.g. for 201.64, first pair would be 2, second would be 01, and third would be 64 (see the attachment for visualizing)
  2. Now start with the first pair, and find the number whose square is equal to or just less than the first pair. So here, since first pair is 2, that number whose square is just less than or equal to 2 is 1. Now divide 2 by 1 , and also put 1 in the quotient.
  3. After this step, you will have 1 in quotient, and 1 in divisor with remainder of 2 - 1 = 1. Now bring down the next pair to join with the remainder. The resulting number now is 101
  4. Now, double the number that is there in the quotient (so 1 becomes 2) and use it to determine the new divisor for 101. The new divisor will be such that when the divisor is multiplied with its unit digit then the product is just less than or equal to 101 (i.e. 2x * x <= 101). So for x = 4, 24 *4 = 96, which is less than 101. Now append this 4 in the quotient. The quotient now become 14. And subtract 96 from 101 to find the remainder. The remainder now is 5
  5. We have now reached the decimal point in the dividend, so add a decimal point in the quotient
  6. Now bring down the next pair to join with the remainder. The resulting number now is 564
  7. Now, double the number that is there in the quotient (so 14 becomes 28) and use it to determine the new divisor for 564. The new divisor will be such that when the divisor is multiplied with its unit digit then the product is just less than or equal to 564 (i.e. 28x * x <= 564). So for x = 2, 282 *2 = 564. Now append this 2 in the quotient. The quotient now become 14.2. And subtract 564 from 564 to find the remainder. The remainder now is 0. Hence, we have completed the problem, and we have the square root with us
  8. The square root is the quotient obtained: 14.2
