The Navajo code talkers were Native Americans recruited in the U.S. marines in order to speak to the enemies about their plans in attack, only the words spoken were based on the Navajo's own language making their plans unable to be comprehended by the enemy. This lead to the confusion of the enemy since they were unable to break down the code correctly, which allowed the allies to take advantage of it.
It revolutionized the maritime industry by allowing faster travel that could now be controlled without being reliant on wind currents. Along with it being faster, you could now transport goods on larger ships through smaller bodies of water like rivers.
When they traveled, they carried cheap luggage, which were called carpetbags. They were mass produced during this time (reconstruction era) and therefore, the many people coming down with them from the north were referred to derisively as carpetbaggers.
Marx and Engels begin The Communist Manifesto with "A spectre is haunting Europe" because they wanted to warn the bourgeoisie and the elite class that their movement is strong and it is not going to stop until Europe is classless. Literary effect: the movement is mainstream. Political effect: the movement is powerful.
