Answer: pretty sure its 0.214 moles * 40.3g/mole = 8.6g (2 sig figs) of MgO, and

0.035 moles * 40.3g/mole = 1.4g of MgO

Someone explain it plz
timofeeve [1]

Answer:

1). 1 mole of Carbon burnt in air

C + O2 →CO2

1 mole of carbon produces 1 mole of CO2 which is 44g of CO2

2). 1 mole of carbon is burnt in 16g of dioxygen

32g of O2 = 44g of CO2

1g of O2 = 44/32

CO2 (Dioxygen is limiting reagent)

16g of O2 = 4/32 × 16 = 22g of CO2 in one mole

3) 2 moles of Carbon burnt in 16g of dioxygen

16g of dioxygen is available, and thus it can combine with 0.5 mol of carbon to give 22g of CO2

What type of compound is created when potassium and chlorine combine explain how they combine and write the chemical formula. Ne
Elodia [21]

Answer : Ionic compound is created when potassium and chlorine combine. The chemical formula of the compound is KCl.

Explanation :

When potassium and chlorine combine then the type of compound created is Ionic compound.

Ionic compound : These are those compounds which are made of a metal element and non-metal element. Salts are ionic compound which consists of a positive and negative ions.

The electronic configuration of Potassium is,

1s^22s^22p^63s^23p^64s^1

The electronic configuration of Chlorine is,

1s^22s^22p^63s^23p^5

From this we conclude that the potassium atom is a metal which has 1 electron in their valence shell and chlorine atom is a non-metal which has 7 electrons in their valence shell. For the complete octet, chlorine atom needs only 1 electron which it receives from the potassium atom.

During this process, potassium atom will loses 1 electron and acquire positive charge and chlorine atom will gain 1 electron from potassium atom and acquire negative charge.

K^++Cl^-\rightarrow KCl

The chemical formula of the compound is KCl.

A 14.570 g sample of CaCl2 was added to 12.285 g of K2CO3 and mixed in water. A 3.494 g yield of CaCO3 was obtained.
natta225 [31]

Answer:

Limiting reagent is the potassium carbonate.

Percent yield of calcium carbonate is: 39.3 %

Explanation:

The reaction is:

CaCl₂ + K₂CO₃ → CaCO₃ + 2KCl

Formula for percent yield is:

(Produced yield / Thoeretical yield) . 100

Firstly we determine the moles of each reactant, in order to say what is the limiting reagent: ratio is 1:1.

1 mol of chloride need 1 mol of carbonate.

14.570 g . 1 mol /110.98 g = 0.131 moles of CaCl₂

12.285 g . 1 mol / 138.2g = 0.0889 moles of carbonate.

Limiting reagent is carbonate. For 0.131 moles of CaCl₂ we need the same amount of carbonate and we have less moles.

Ratio is also 1:1, with calcium carbonate.

1 mol of potassium carbonate produces 1 mol of calcium carbonate

then, 0.0889 moles will produce the same amount of CaCO₃

We convert moles to mass: 0.0889 mol . 100.08g /mol = 8.89 g

That's the theoretical yield; to find the percent yield:

(3.494 g / 8.89g) . 100 = 39.3%
