At the time, women weren’t allowed to have just any roles in society, and if they did achieve success in spite of society’s standards against them, they did not get to enjoy the success without discrimination. It’s very important to recognize that women’s roles in the past were immensely undermined, and to make sure that we as a society do everything to put those discriminatory ideas behind us and progress towards gender equality.
