Which of the following is a polynomial?

Mathematics
1 answer:
nekit [7.7K]3 years ago

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Polynomials should consist of only non-negative integer powers of x. Thus B and D are definitely not. It might be possible to simplify A into something that looks like a polynomial, but it’s a bit difficult. If you just need to choose one, then C is definitely a good choice.

My incomplete attempt of factorizing A:

\frac{x^5(x^6-4)}{x^5(x^{-5}+1)} = \frac{x^5}{1+x^5}(x^3+2)(x^3-2)

Mr. Smith is 81 years older than his grandson, Victor. In 3 years, Mr. Smith will be four times as old as Victor. How old is Vic
puteri [66]
<h3>Answer :- </h3>

  • 24 years

<h3>Solution :- </h3>

  • Let the age of victor be X .
  • and, the age of Mr.Smith be = 81 + x

♧ <em>So, after 3 years = x+81 +3</em>

  • 81 + 3 + x = 4 ( x + 3 )
  • 84 + x = 4x + 12

♧ <em>now grouping the variables and constants together we get,</em>

  • 4x-x=84-12
  • 3x = 72
  • x = 72/3
  • x = 24

♧ <em>Thus, Victor's present age is 24 yrs.</em>

Use the markings in the image to answer the following questions (drawing not to scale):
katrin [286]

First of all, we have to observe this triangles separated by the height. These small and big triangles are similar according to the Angle-Angle-Angle principle.

a. We can find all of these length using the cosine of the angle, Pythagoras theorem and the principle of the similarity of triangles.

b. According to the cosine of the angle we can write that, cosθ = 12/a = 5/13 and from here a = 31.2. After finding that using Pythagoras theorem, we can write that b=\sqrt{31.2^{2}-12^{2}} = 28.8. According to the similarity of the triangles, we can write that 31.2/d = 28.8/12 and d = 13. Applying Pythagoras theorem we find that c = 5.

c. We already gave the answer for this question in part b
