if burning wood causes the energy of the surroundings to increase by 12,000J what is the change in energy of the wood
Hitman42 [59]
Due to the law of conservation of energy we know that the energy that heated the surrounding had to have come from the reaction which means that the wood (with oxygen since this is combustion) lost 12000J. The change in energy for the wood is negative. I hope this helps. Let me know if anything is unclear.

Is a hydrogel a smart polymer/stimuli-responsive polmer?
Vadim26 [7]
Polymer scientists have been trying to mimic this behavior by creating so called smart polymers. ... One of the most important classes of stimuli-responsive polymers used for controlled drug delivery is crosslinked polymer networks, e.g., hydrogels and microgels.
Hopefully this helps if not I’ll try rewriting it

Would nitrogen gas be a mineral if it has a chemical formula of n2?
STALIN [3.7K]

Answer:

Nitrogen gas be a mineral only, if it is in organic forms.

Explanation:

Most of the forms of organic nitrogen is not be taken by plants, with the exception in the form of small organic molecules. Also plants can promptly take the nitrogen when it is in other forms like ammonia and nitrate.

The microorganisms in the soil converts the organic forms of nitrogen to mineral form when they decompose organic matters and also fresh plant residues. This type of process is called mineralisation.
