of students taking the test on the computer and the number of test pages she would need to print.
(graph below)

What feature of the graph represents how many pages Mrs. Gazi would need to print if none of the students take the test on the computer?

Use calculus to find the volume of the following solid S:
Sveta_85 [38]

I assume the base of S is the disk centered at the origin, or x² + y² ≤ r². Solving for y gives two solutions corresponding to the upper and lower halves of the circular boundary,

x^2+y^2 = r^2 \implies y = \pm \sqrt{r^2-x^2}

and the vertical distance between them - i.e. the side length of each cross section - is

\sqrt{r^2-x^2} - \left(-\sqrt{r^2-x^2}\right) = 2\sqrt{r^2-x^2}

Then the volume of each square cross section 4 (r² - x²) ∆x, and the volume of S is

\displaystyle \int_{-r}^r 4(r^2-x^2) \, dx

By symmetry, this is the same as

\displaystyle 8 \int_0^r (r^2-x^2) \, dx

which gives a volume of

\displaystyle 8 \int_0^r (r^2-x^2) \, dx = 8 \left(r^3 - \frac{r^3}3\right) = \boxed{\frac{16r^3}3}

In an election, Mr. Jones received 70% of the 1,500 votes cast. How many votes did Mr. Jones receive?
Luba_88 [7]
With receiving 70% of the 1,500 votes, Mr. Jones overall ended up receiving 1050 votes.

70% of 1500 is equal to (70 × 70) / 100 = 1050.

If a yoga mat normally cost $22 what is the total cost including 5% sales tax during the sale?
Dennis_Churaev [7]
I'm not sure if you meant to not include the tax, but I can give you the initial price with the sales tax.

22 \times .05
Use to find the tax.
Since it is 1.1, you just have to add it on.

22 + 1.1 = 23.1
It will cost $23.10 for the initial price.
