Answer:

A)30.0g

B)29.925g

C)5.985g

D)6g

Step-by-step explanation:

CHECK THE COMPLETE QUESTION BELOW:

Dr. Mann mixed 10.357 g of chemical A, 12.062 g of chemical B, and 7.506 g of chemical C to make 5 doses of medicine.

a. About how much medicine did he make in grams? Estimate the amount of each chemical by rounding to the nearest tenth of a gram before finding the sum. Show all your thinking.

b. Find the actual amount of medicine mixed by Dr. Mann. What is the difference between your estimate and the actual amount?

c. How many grams are in one dose of medicine? Explain your strategy for solving this problem.

d. Round the weight of one dose to the nearest gram.

A) Firstly we need to round up to nearest tenth, and this can be done as by checking the number that comes after the decimal point, then check the number that comes after that number, if it's equal to 5, or greater that 5, round it up to 1 then add to the number that comes after the decimal point.

10.357 g of chemical A, = 10.4g

12.062 g of chemical B, = 12.1g

7.506 g of chemical C= 7.5g

Them add everything together we have,

10.4g of chemical A + 12.1g of chemical B + 7.5g of chemical C

= 30.0g

b)To Find the actual amount of medicine mixed by Dr. Mann, we add up without converting to nearest 10th. Then we have

10.357 g of chemical A+ 12.062 g of chemical B + 7.506 g of chemical C= 7.5g= 29.925g

Now the the difference between your estimate and the actual amount = (30.0g - 29.925g )

= 0.075g

c) to know How many grams are in one dose of medicine we divide 29.925g

by 5, which will give us 5.985g

d. Round the weight of one dose to the nearest gram

Then as explained above if we round up to nearest gram, we have 6g
