Option (D) is correct. The sound waves cannot travel through the Vacuum.

Explanation:

The waves are defined as the disturbances produced in the medium particles. There are two types of waves based on the nature of the disturbance produced.

The Transverse waves are the waves in which the medium particles oscillate in the direction perpendicular to the motion of the wave whereas in Longitudinal waves are the waves in which the particle oscillate in the direction of propagation of the waves.

The sound waves are the mechanical waves that travel in a medium in a longitudinal nature whereas the electromagnetic waves are the waves that travel in transverse nature.

The Sound waves being the mechanical waves require a medium for their propagation whereas the electromagnetic waves are transverse in nature and they do not require any medium for their propagation.

Therefore, the sound waves can easily travel through the elastic material, liquid and also a solid because all these are the medium for the transfer of mechanical waves but the sound waves cannot travel through the vacuum because iy does not have any medium.

Thus, Option (D) is correct. The sound waves cannot travel through the Vacuum.

Sound waves can travel through ANY material ... solid, liquid, or gas.
The thing is: Sound NEEDS material to travel through, and if there's
nothing there, then sound can't go anywhere. The correct choice
on the list is 'D' ... Sound can't travel through vacuum, because
there's nothing there. When we talk to each other, the AIR between
us carries the sound waves.

Have you ever seen any video of two astronauts standing on the
moon, or two astronauts "space-walking" on the outside of the
Space Shuttle ?

Naturally, they have their helmets on, and they're talking to
each other. How are they talking ? No matter how close together
they are, they're talking to each other by radio ! because there's
nothing between them to carry sound. Even if they're only a few
inches apart, they can SHOUT but the other one can't hear it.

I have read ... I don't think there's any video of this ... that sometimes
when two astronauts are very close together, they can talk if they
touch their helmets together. Then the sound vibrations can go from
one helmet over to the other one, through the solid shell of the helmets.

A steel aircraft carrier is 370 m long when moving through the icy North Atlantic at a temperature of 2.0 °C. By how much does t
34kurt

Answer:

The carrier lengthen is 0.08436 m.

Explanation:

Given that,

Length = 370 m

Initial temperature = 2.0°C

Final temperature = 21°C

We need to calculate the change temperature

Using formula of change of temperature

\Delta T=T_{f}-T_{i}

\Delta T=21-2.0

\Delta T=19^{\circ}C

We need to calculate the carrier lengthen

Using formula of length

\Delta L=\alpha_{steel}\times L_{0}\times\Delta T

Put the value into the formula

\Delta L=1.2\times10^{-5}\times370\times19

\Delta L=0.08436\ m

Hence, The carrier lengthen is 0.08436 m.

The image shows how Earth orbits the Sun. Points W and X are the same distance from the Sun.
Ksju [112]

Answer:

This figure shows the Second Kepler’s Law of Planetary Motion, The line that joins the planet with the Sun sweeps equal areas in equal times.

According to this statement, the only way in which this is fulfilled is that the planet moves faster when it is near the sun (perihelion) and moves slower when it is far from the Sun (aphelion).

In the image shown, if points W and X are at the same distance to the Sun, this means the instantaneous velocity of the planet in both points is the same.
