Why was the idea of plate tectonics difficult for many scientists to accept for many years after it was first introduced?
gayaneshka [121]
It's kind of funny really. The guy who invented the idea in the first place had actually been made fun of because the thought of that happening was improbable in their mind. Also, Wegener ( the guy who invented the idea) was not even a geologist but a meteorologist. But later it had been backed up due to earthquakes being record consecutively in one area, and the graphs turning out differently.

A tertiary source is the most desirable source for a researcher to use. True or false
Kaylis [27]

The statement ‘A tertiary source is the most desirable source for a researcher to use’ is false. It should be that your source is primary because it is more reliable and is related to the research you have been working on.

Answer:

The current in a resistor decreases by a factor of 4.

Explanation:

I = \frac{E}{R}

Where (I) is the current, (E) is the voltage and (R) is the resistance.

Decreasing the voltage by 4 gives;

I = 0.25\frac{E}{R}

Since you have multiplied \frac{E}{R} by 0.25,

You have to multiply I by 0.25 so the current decreases by a factor of 4.

8. A car travels at a constant velocity of 70 mph for one hour. By the end of the second hour, the car’s velocity was 60 mph. At
Mrac [35]

<u>Answer:</u>

  Positive acceleration is in third hour and negative acceleration is in second hour.

<u>Explanation:</u>

  Velocity of car in first hour =  70 mph

  Velocity of car in second hour = 60 mph

  Velocity of car in third hour = 80 mph

   Acceleration = Change in velocity / Time

   Acceleration in second hour = (60 - 70)/1 = -10 mph²

   Acceleration in third hour = (80 - 60)/1 = 20 mph²

   So positive acceleration is in third hour and negative acceleration is in second hour.

A flashlight has a resistance of 30 Q and is connected
Talja [164]

Answer:

3 A

Explanation:

The relationship between voltage, current and resistance in a conductor is expressed by Ohm's law, which states that:

V=RI

where:

V is the potential difference across the conductor

R is the resistance of the conductor

I is the current flowing through it

In this problem, for this flashlight we have:

V = 90 V is the potential difference

R=30 \Omega is the resistance of the flashlight

Solving for I, we find the current:

I=\frac{V}{R}=\frac{90}{30}=3 A
