Part 1: Convection occurs when warmer areas of a liquid or gas rise to cooler areas in the liquid or gas. Cooler liquid or gas then takes the place of the warmer areas which have risen higher. This results in a continuous circulation pattern.
Part 2: The Earth's crust is broken up into pieces called plates. The crust moves because of movements deep inside the earth. Heat rising and falling inside the mantle creates convection currents generated by radioactive decay in the core. The convection currents move the plates.
c.midrib. The petiole is a stalk arising from the stem of the plant that connects the stem to the leaf blade. In the middle of the leaf blade is the midrib, which is an extension of the petiole.
