A pilot flies her route in two straight-line segments. The displacement vector A for the first segment has a magnitude of 243 km

and a direction 30.0o north of east. The displacement vector for the second segment has a magnitude of 178 km and a direction due west. The resultant displacement vector is R = A + B and makes an angle ? with the direction due east. Using the component method, find (a) the magnitude of R and (b) the directional angle ?.
(a) R = km
(b) ? = degrees

Answer:

a) R=126Km

b) \theta=74.6\textdegree

Explanation:

From the question we are told that:

1st segment

243km at Angle=30

2nd segment

178km West

Resolving to the X axis

F_x=243cos30+178

F_x=33.44Km

Resolving to the Y axis

F_y=243sin30+178sin0

R=\sqrt{F_y^2+F_x^2}

F_y=121.5Km

Therefore

Generally the equation for Directional Angle is mathematically given by

\theta=tan^{-1}\frac{F_y}{F_x}

\theta=tan^{-1}\frac{121.5}{33.44}

\theta=74.6\textdegree

Generally the equation for Magnitude is mathematically given by

R=\sqrt{F_y^2+F_x^2}

R=\sqrt{33.44^2+121.5^2}

R=126Km

You have just moved into a new apartment and are trying to arrange your bedroom. You would like to move your dresser of weight 3
Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

0.

Explanation:

(A) Work done on the dresser which will be given as :

W = F d cos \theta

where, F = weight of the dresser = 3500 N

d_{expected} = 5m

However you can move the dresser, that is a real distance,

d = 0 m

Substituting,

W = (0) F(3500)cos (\theta) (\theta is the angle at which you apply the force)

W = 0 J

Suppose that the electric potential outside a living cell is higher than that inside the cell by 0.063 V. How much work is done
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

W=1.008\times 10^{-20}\ J

Explanation:

Given that

Potential difference ,ΔV= 0.063 V

Charge q

q=1.6\times 10^{-19}\ C

The work done by electric force given as

W = ΔV . q

W=0.063\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}\ J

W=1.008\times 10^{-20}\ J

Above the ground, a 1 m long wire is suspended horizontally perpendicular to a line running from its center to a nearby observer
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

a) 0.09N b) positive x direction

Explanation:

Force on a conductor carrying current in a magnetic field can be expressed as;

F = BILsin(theta) where

F is the force on the conductor (wire)

B is the uniform magnetic field I'm Tesla = 1.8Tesla

I is the current in the wire = 5×10^-2A

L is the length of the wire = 1m

theta is the angle that the conductor make with the magnetic field = 90° (since the wire in the horizontal direction is perpendicular to the field acting upwards)

Substituting this value in the formula to get F we have;

F = 1.8×5×10^-2×1 × sin90°

F = 0.09N

The force on the wire is 0.09N

b) The direction of the force is in the positive x direction since the wire acts horizontally to the magnetic field.
