(x² - 8x + 16 ) + (x² - 4x + 4) = x

2x² -12x + 20 = x

2x²-12x + 20 - x = 0

2x² - 13x + 20 = 0

(2x-5) (x-4) = 0

2x-5 = 0

2x = 5

x = ⁵/₂

x-4 = 0

x = 4

so x₁ = ⁵/₂ , and x₂ = 4
