Cuando hablamos de punto de fuga en cualquier figura, nos estamos refiriendo a la proyección de las rectas paralelas desde la silueta del dibujo hasta su trazo en un punto determinado del infinito, donde parece que se llegaran a juntar. Esta proyección lineal tiene una representación de cono por la forma en la que las líneas salen de la figura y pareciera que se junta al final, en un punto.

Dependiendo de los planos o ejes de proyección de la figura o el objeto, existen tres perspectivas de observación: la perspectiva aérea, frontal y la oblicua.

La línea del horizonte se puede entender como la zona geométrico en donde chocan los puntos de fuga en el plano posterior a la figura observada.

I had to do a bit of research for this one but here is how I would explain it:

In the 17th century, religion was far more important than it is today. It was a vital part of everyday life. Dutch artists would be influenced by the church of England as their artwork, the Church argued, played a key role in guiding the faithful. Art was certainly as important as the written or spoken word - not locked behind any language barrier - and anyone could understand it. Dutch artists had to make their art persuasive: it had to move the faithful (and disbelievers) to feel the reality of Christ’s sacrifice, the suffering of the martyrs, the visions of the saints.
