Two hot air balloons are traveling along the same path away from the town, beginning from different locations at the same time.

Henry's balloon begins 25 miles from the town and is 37 miles from the town after 2 hours. The distance of Tasha's balloon from the town is represented by the function y= 7x + 15
Which ballon was farther from the town at the beginning, and which traveled more quickly?

A. Henry's balloon was farther from the town at the beginning, but Tasha's balloon traveled more quickly.

B. Henry's balloon was farther from the town at the beginning, and it traveled more quickly.

C. Tasha's ballon was farther from the town at the beginning, but Henry's balloon traveled more quickly.

D. Tasha's balloon was farther from the town at the beginning, but it traveled more quickly.

A = x² + xy +2y-1
A+B= 2x² - xy - 4y-1
a) find A-B
b) if (A-B) = X
find y
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the 2 equations

A = x² + xy + 2y - 1 → (1)

A + B = 2x² - xy - 4y - 1 → (2)

From (2)

B = 2x² - xy - 4y - 1 - A

   = 2x² - xy - 4y - 1 - (x² + xy + 2y - 1) ← distribute parenthesis

   = 2x² - xy - 4y - 1 - x² - xy - 2y + 1 ← collect like terms

   = x² - 2xy - 6y

Hence

A - B = x² + xy + 2y - 1 - (x² - 2xy - 6y) ← distribute parenthesis

        = x² + xy + 2y - 1 - x² + 2xy + 6y ← collect like terms

        = 3xy + 8y - 1

(b)

Given A - B = x, then

x = 3xy + 8y - 1 ( add 1 to both sides )

x + 1 = 3xy + 8y ← factor out y from each term

x + 1 = y(3x + 8) ← divide both sides by (3x + 8)

y = \frac{x+1}{3x+8}

Can someone explain to me how to find the missing terms and common ratio of question #7, and how to answer #8 please
NeTakaya
7. general term of gp is given by ar^n-1
hence,4th term is given by

ar^3=15 ------(1)
ar^6=405-----(2)

equation 2/1,we get
r^3=27
so common ratio r=3
putting value of r in equation 1,
we get a=5/9

so gp upto 7 terms will be 5/9,5/3,5,15,45,135,405

8. a=3
given 4th term is -24
so ar^3=-24

substituting value of a we get r^3=-8
r^3= -2^3
so r = -2

using this x2 is ar= 3*-2=-6

               x3 is ar^2= 3*4=12
