Answer:

Explanation:Standing flood waters can also spread infectious diseases, contain chemical hazards, and cause injuries. Each year, flooding causes more deaths than any other hazard related to thunderstorms. The most common flood deaths occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood waters.

Given the force diagram of the basketball, what can you tell about the basketball motion?
VARVARA [1.3K]

Newton's laws allow to find the result for the movement of the basketballl:

  • On the vertical axis the ball is on the ground.
  • On the horizontal axis the ball is accelerating in the direction of the pushing force.

Newton's laws establish the relationship between the forces on objects:

  • The 1st law states that if the net force is zero the object is stationary or with constant speed.
  • The 2nd law gives a relation of the force with the mass and the acceleration of the body.
  • The 3rd. Law states that the force appears in pairs, one on each body with the same magnitude, but in the opposite direction.

Let's apply these principles to the ball's motion diagram.

The two vertical forces are in the opposite direction, one is due to the weight of the body and the other is the attraction of the earth to the support of the ball, they are of equal magnitude, not their action-reaction force and reluctant because it is applied to the same body

       In conclusion we can say that the ball is on the ground.

The two horizontal forces are in the opposite direction, the thrust force is greater than the friction therefore using Newton's second law the ball must be accelerating in the direction of the thrust force.

       In conclusion we can say that the ball is accelerating in the direction of the pushing force.

In conclusion using Newton's laws we can find the result for the motion of the basketball:

  • On the vertical axis the ball is on the ground.
  • On the horizontal axis the ball is accelerating in the direction of the pushing force.

A ball was thrown from a projectile building of 30m which moves at a constant velocity of 20m/s and has an angle of 30degrees to
qwelly [4]

Answer:

Time of flight = 4.08seconds

Horizontal component of initial velocity is 17.32m/s

Explanation: complete question( and the horizontal component of the initial velocity.)

The equation for time of flight of a projectile is given as T= 2u/g

T=( 2×20)/9.8

T= 40/9.8= 4.08seconds

Horizontal component of initial velocity Vix= Vi Costheta

Vix= 20× cos 30°

Vix= 20×0.8660

Vix= 17.32m/s

A major league baseball pitcher throws a pitch that follows these parametric equations:
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

d)    v = 100.2 mph, e) t = 1.25 s, f) -0.0340

Explanation:

d) This is an exercise that we can solve using projectile launch equations, let's start by calculating the time the ball will take to take home-plate

          .x = 147 t

          t = x / 147

          t = 60.5 / 147

          t = 0.41156 s

Let's use Pythagoras' theorem to find the speed

           v = √ vₓ² + v_{y}²

           vₓ = dx / dt

           vₓ = 147

           v_{y} = dy / dt

            v_{y} = 4 -16 t

We look for speed for the time of arriving at home

           v_{y} = 4 - 16 0.41156

            v_{y} = -2,585 ft / s

            v_{y} = -2.585 ft/ s ( 1 mile /5280 foot) (3600s/1h)

Let's calculate the speed

             v = √ (147² + 2,585²)

             v = 147.02 ft / s

              v =  147.0 ft/s (1 mile/5280 feet)(3600s/1h)

             v = 100.2 mph

e) the time it takes for the ball to reach the floor and = 0 foot

       y = 5 + 4 t - 16 t²

       0 = 5 + 4t - 16t²

       t² –t / 4 -5/4 = 0

       t² -0.25 t -1.25 = 0

We solve the equation and second degree

       t = [0.25 ±√(0.25² + 4 1.25)] / 2

       t = [0.25 ± 2.25] / 2

       t₁ = 1.25 s

       t₂ = -1 s

The positive time is correct

       t = 1.25 s

f) The angle of speed when the ball passes home

         tan θ = v_{y} / vₓ

         θ = tan⁺¹ (v_{y} / vx)

The distance x is given in the exercise

          x = 60.5 foot

          vₓ = 147 foot / s

The speed y is t = 1.25 s

          v_{y} = 5 + 4 1.25 - 16 1.25²

          v_{y} = -15 foot / s

         θ = tan⁻¹ (-15/147)

         θ = -1,947º = -0,0340 rad
