The answer is 6. When x is -3 then you divide -3 by 3 and the quotient is -1. So 5-(-1) is also equal to 5+1 which equals 6

A bag contains 40 red and green marbles. The number of green marbles, g, is 9 times the number of red mapples, . How many red ma
marin [14]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

You need to try out all the numbers.

lets start with 4

if there where 4 red marbles then there would be 9 times as many marbles

so 4 x 9 = 36

Now we add and see if the sum is 40

36 + 4 = 40

We got it on the first try

You can use the same method on more problems like these.

Hope this helps :)

8 action, 3 comedy, 5 drama....total = 16 dvd's

P(2 action, then a comedy)...without replacement

8/16 * 7/15 * 3/14 = (8 * 7 * 3) / (16 * 15 * 14) = 168/3360 = 1/20

Count the number of Boxes  that have all three numbers higher than 5: 4

total number of boxes: 50

Probability it will take at least 4 patients: 4/50 = 0.08 = 8%

Count boxes with 2 numbers 5 or under: 17

difference of two positive numbers is 3. One number is 3 / 4 of the other number. Find the two numbers.
OleMash [197]

we have the two numbers, x and y

x - y = 3

y = 0.75x

x - 0.75x = 3

0.25x = 3

x = 12

We substitute x into an equation: y = 0.75x

0.75 x 12 = 9 so y = 9

They have a difference of three

x = 12 and y = 9

Hope I helped!

Well, the general form for point-slope form is y-ysub1= m(x-xsub1). In the general form,  ysub1 stands for the y-coordinate and xsub1 stands for the x-coordinate, and m stands for the slope. When writing in point-slope form, we need the slop and one ordered pair.

The equation has already given us two ordered pairs but it doesn't give us the slope. We just need to find the slope between these two points, which is 3/1, or just 3. Then we pick one of the ordered pair they gave us and plug in the general form.

I'll go with the first ordered pair, (2,1). The y and the x in the equation, don't plug them in, leave them as it is, we only need to plug in the slope and the two coordinates. So we get y-1=3(x-2).

I'll only do the first ordered pain for you, and you should be able to do the second one.
