Tom has a collection of 30 CDs and Nita has a collection of 18 CDs. Tom is adding 1 CD a month to his collection while It is add

ing 5 CDs a month to her collection. Write a system to find the number of months after which they will have the same number of CDs. Let x represent the number of months and y the number of CDs.

Hello,

30 + 1x = 18 + 5x
- 1x -1x 
30 = 18 + 4x 
-18 -18 
12 = 4x 
12/4 = 4x/4 
3= x 
3 months. 

Now to proove it add 3 months to Tom. 30 + 1 +1 + 1= 33 
Now to Nita: 18 + 5 + 5 + 5= 33
