Andy has a snowball (a perfect sphere) with the radius of 3 cm. He wanted the snowball to be bigger, so he spent four seconds pa
BigorU [14]

Answer:

Ratio = \frac{64}{27}

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of Sphere is given by the formula:

V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3

Where

V is the volume

and

r is the radius

Original Volume, given r = 3, would be:

V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3\\V=\frac{4}{3} \pi (3)^3\\V=\frac{4}{3}\pi (27)\\V=36\pi

Increased snowball volume:

Radius increased 0.25 per second, he spent 4 seconds, so radius increase:

0.25 * 4  = 1 cm

New radius = 3 + 1 = 4 cm

New Volume would be:

V=\frac{4}{3} \pi r^3\\V=\frac{4}{3} \pi (4)^3\\V=\frac{4}{3}\pi(64)\\V=\frac{256\pi}{3}

Ratio of New Volume to Original would be:

Ratio=\frac{\frac{256\pi}{3}}{36\pi}=\frac{256\pi}{3}*\frac{1}{36\pi}=\frac{64}{27}

This is the ratio for current volume to original volume.

How do you solve equations with rational coefficients?
Arlecino [84]

You've been doing that all this time and didn't even realize it !

Every plain old number that you ever see is a rational number.
Every equation that has plain old numbers next to the variables
is an equation with rational coefficients.

If a variable ever has (pi) or a square root or a trig function next to it,
then that's an irrational coefficient.  But I'll just bet you haven't ever
seen any of these yet.

Two baskets contain snacks. The basket contain 12 bags of peanuts, of which 5 are reduced sodium and 8 granola bars, of which 2
Ghella [55]
There are a total of 20 snacks in each bag.  We consider the probability of picking a bag of peanuts with reduced sodium and then a granola bar with reduced sodium, then multiply by 2 (because we could pick them in the other order).

There is a 5/20 chance of picking a sodium-reduced bag of peanuts first, and a 2/20 chance of picking a sodium-reduced granola bar next.  Thus, the chance of picking them together in that order is 5/20*2/20=10/400, or 1/40.  Because we could pick the snacks in either order, we multiply by two, for a result of a 1/20 probability.

A friend has offered to play a gambling game with you that involves flipping a coin that she has provided. You want to test the
Sloan [31]

Answer:

The 10% condition would not apply here

Explanation:

The 10% condition is the recommended size of sample from the population to get a non biased result. The 10% condition requires that the sample be not more than 10% of the population.

Tossing a coin is an example of a Bernoulli trial. A Bernoulli trial is one that has two possible outcomes, this face of the coin or the other face of the coin. The 10% condition does not apply to Bernoulli trials that are independent events.

Therefore the 10% condition would not apply here because tossing a coin is an an independent event. An independent event is one with replacement.
