the earnings from a non profit organization are delegated to cover the expenses of running the organization  and the expenses to keep it up, pay the employees if they have paid employees instead of volunteers, and spending it on things to further achieve the goal that the organization has set out for.       it is different than for profit organizations because wile in a for profit organization the main goal is to make money and a good amount of money is reserved and given to the people who started it and those who are higher up in the organization in a non profit all money that is not used to cover expenses or pay employees is all funneled to helping the organization achieve its set goal.
