The point-slope form of line:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

The fomula of a slope:

m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Substitute the coordinates of the points:

m=\dfrac{7-3}{2-(-2)}=\dfrac{4}{2+2}=\dfrac{4}{4}=1\\\\y-7=1(x-2)

y-7=x-2       <em>subtract y from both sides</em>

-7=x-y-2     <em>add 2 to both sides</em>

-5=x-y\to\boxed{x-y=-5}

<h3>What are Chieftains?</h3>

The Chieftains are a traditional Irish folk band formed in Dublin in 1962, by Paddy Moloney, Sean Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their sound, which is almost entirely instrumental and largely built around uilleann pipes, has become synonymous with traditional Irish music and they are regarded as having helped popularise Irish music around the world.

They have won six Grammys during their career and they were given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2002. Some music experts have credited The Chieftains with bringing traditional Irish music to a worldwide audience, so much so that the Irish government awarded them the honorary title of 'Ireland's Musical Ambassadors' in 1989.

determine the equation of the line that has the given slope and travels through thegiven point (3,-4) and m=2
iren2701 [21]
Y = mx + c
-4 = 2(3) + c
-4 = 6 + c
-10 = c

y = mx + c
y = 2x - 10
Hence, the equation is y=2x-10.
