Answer:

x = 20 ft

Area of the living room = 400 ft²

Step-by-step explanation:

From the picture attached,

Length of rug = (x - 3) ft

Width of the rug = (x - 9) ft

Area of the rectangular rug = Length × Width

                                              = (x - 3)(x - 9)

187 = (x - 3)(x -9)

187 = x² - 12x + 27

x² - 12x - 160 = 0

x² - 20x + 8x - 160 = 0

x(x - 20) + 8(x - 20) = 0

(x - 20)(x + 8) = 0

x = -8, 20

Since, measure of 'x' can't be negative, measure of x will be 20 ft.

Therefore, area of the square living room = x²

                                                                     = (20)²

                                                                     = 400 ft²

Ryan called each school in the district to determine wether or not they have a recycling program. What is true about Ryan’s data
otez555 [7]

Ryan's data collection is true that Ryan did a survey  he asked about qualitative data.

Given that Ryan called every school in the district to find out if they had a recycling program.

We know that there are two types of data:

Quantitative data deals with numbers and things that we can count or measure such as dimensions such as height, width, and length.

Qualitative data relating to characteristics and descriptions cannot be counted or measured, but are observable by their qualities such as smell, taste, and color.

If we ask for quantitative data, the survey will be quantitative. Data recycling means the quality of the data available.

They can ask for a yes or no answer, as in the Ryan investigation.

Hence, the correct statement about Ryan's data collection is: Ryan conducted a survey in which he asked about qualitative data.

What does it mean to solve an equation
12345 [234]
In Middle School math, it means to find out what number ' x ' must be in order for the equation to be a true statement. In middle school, it can only be one number.

What is the arc length of the shaded region to the nearest tenth?
Maslowich

Answer:

285

Step-by-step explanation:

The total amount of degrees in a circle is 360, we know that the un-shaded portion of the circle is 90 degrees this means that the shaded portion has 270 degrees.

We also know that the area of the circle is \pi r^{2} but we are finding a portion of that, therefore we would need to multiply it by (\frac{270}{360} ). The radius is also given which is 11.

Area of the shaded region = (\frac{270}{360}) * \pi 11^{2} = 285

1e) Based on the box plot, we can for example, find the lowest and greatest values, the range (largest - smallest), the mean (all values / # values), and the median middle value or q2 given by the second line in the box.

2b) 7

2c) 9.5

2d) ↑

2e) because the data is not ordered, it is difficult to determine the quartile data. Once it is ordered like 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10, 10. The data can be visualized alot easier. With the box plot we can determine q3 of the data by looking at the 3rd line, using the whiskers of the box to find the minimum and maximum values.

3)

You need to find the minimum, maximum, the quartile data obtained by having an even amount of data on both sides, order it so that values can be grouped. this includes q1, q2 (or median), and q3.

In this case the ordered data would be: 4,6,8,8,9,11,12,14,14,16.

[4, 6, 8, 8, 9] [] [11, 12, 14, 14, 16]

4 is the minimum, 16 is the maximum, q1 is 8, q3 is 14, and median is 10.

4) ↑

5)

You need to find the minimum, maximum, the quartile data obtained by having an even amount of data on both sides, order it so that values can be grouped. this includes q1, q2 (or median), and q3.

In this case the ordered data would be:

45, 45, 50, 55, 60, 70, 70, 75, 80, 85

[45, 45, 50, 55, 60] [] [70, 70, 75, 80, 85]

45 is the minimum, 85 is the maximum, q1 is 50, q3 is 75, and median is 65.

6) ↑
