IceJOKER [234]

You've got five different problems in this photo ... four on top and the word problem on the bottom ... and they're all exactly the same thing:  Taking two points and finding the slope of the line that goes through them.

In every case, the procedure is the same.
If the two points are  (x₁ , y₁)  and  (x₂ , y₂) , then
the slope of the line that goes through them is

                          Slope  =  (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁) .

This is important, and you should memorize it.

#1).  (8, 10)  and  (-7, 14)

         Slope  =  (14 - 10) / (-7 - 8)  =  4 / -15

#2).  (-3, 1)  and  (-17, 2)

         Slope  =  (2 - 1) / (-17 -  -3)  =  (2 - 1) / (-17 + 3)  =  1 / -14

#3).  (-20, -4)  and  (-12, -10)

         Slope  =  [ -10 - (-4) ] / [ -12 - (-20) ]

=========================================

The word problem:

This question only gives you one point on the graph,
and then it wants to know what's the slope ?
What are you going to do for another point ?

A "proportional relationship" always passes through the origin,
so another point on the line is  (0, 0) .

Now you have two points on THAT line too, and you can easily
find its slope.

Determine whether the relation is a function. Explain why or why not.
Vitek1552 [10]

This relation is a function. This is because no x value is repeated, so it passes the vertical line test.

Here is an example of where a relation is NOT a function:

{(2, 5), (3, –5), (2, 5), (5, –5)}

Hope this helps!

PLEASE IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER comment below the answer
LenKa [72]

Answer:

46.2 square inches

Step-by-step explanation:

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral (4 sided closed figure) with 2 pair of parallel sides.

The diagram shown is a parallelogram.

Top and Bottom are parallel lines,

both sides are parallel lines (left and right).

The area for a parallelogram is given by:

Area = Base * Height

In the given figure, the base is clearly given as 4.2 inches

The height (perpendicular distance from base) is given as 11 inches.

<em><u /></em>

<em><u>So, basically we do not need the 11.7 inches length of side given.</u></em>

<em><u /></em>

Now, lets compute the area:

Area = base * height = 4.2 * 11 = 46.2 square inches

Please help me answer the question in the picture
love history [14]
Parallel = same slope
Y = -3x + 7, the slope is -3
Slope intercept form: y = mx + b
Y = -3x + b
Plug in point (2,-4) and solve for b
-4 = -3(2) + b
-4 = -6 + b, b = 2
Solution: y = -3x + 2
The answer is D
