Answer:

  D

Step-by-step explanation:

In the second quadrant, ...

  c = 180° -arcsin(24/25) ≈ 106.26°

In the third quadrant, ...

  d = 360° -arccos(-3/4) ≈ 221.41°

Then cos(c+d) = cos(327.67°) ≈ 0.84498

This is a positive irrational number, greater than 21/100, so the only reasonable choice is the last one:

  \dfrac{21+24\sqrt{7}}{100}\approx 0.84498

_____

Perhaps you want to work this out using the trig identities.

  cos(c) = -√(1 -sin(c)²) = -7/25

  sin(d) = -√(1 -cos(d)²) = -(√7)/4

Then the desired cosine is ...

  cos(c+d) = cos(c)cos(d) -sin(c)sin(d)

  cos(c+d) = (-7/25)(-3/4) -(24/25)(-√7/4)

  cos(c+d) = (21 +24√7)/100 . . . . matches choice D

A varies inversely with the square of r and when r = 4, A = 75. Find r when A = 48<br><br>r=
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

r = 3.2

Step-by-step explanation:

If A varies inversely with the square of r, then A = kr^2

75 = k*4^2 = 16k

k = 75/16

Now A = (75/16)*r^2

48 = (75/16)*r^2

r^2 = 48(16/75) = 256/25

r = \sqrt{\frac{256}{25} } = 16/5 = 3.2

solve the inequality $\frac{29}{289z&lt;\frac{16}{161}z$. try to solve the problem without doing a lot of messy computations!
Lesechka [4]

The solution to the given inequality as represented in the task content are; z < - 1.00485413 OR z > 1.00485413.

<h3>What is the solution to the given inequality?</h3>

It follows from the task content that the solution of the given inequality; ( 29 / 289z ) < ( 16 / 161 ) z is to be determined.

Since the given inequality is;

( 29 / 289z ) < ( 16 / 161 ) z

By cross multiplication; we have;

161 × 29 < ( 16z × 289z )

( 161 × 29 ) / ( 16 × 289 ) < z²

1.00973183 < z²

Therefore;

1.00485413 < z. OR. -1.00485413 > z.

Ultimately, z < - 1.00485413 OR z > 1.00485413.

Not sure if this is how your teacher wants it, but here is how I would approach it in high school geometry:

To find the area of a rectangle, you need the base and the height.

The radius is 28 mm however the radius only covers half of one circle. Multiply 28 by 2 to get the length of one circle (56) and multiply 56 by 2 to get the length of your base of your rectangle (112).

Now to find the height: the center of the circles creates an equilateral triangle with the side length of 2r or 56 in this case. This means each angle of that triangle is 60 degrees, and when split in half, this creates two triangles both with angles of 30, 60, and 90. The altitude of this triangle is r√3 because of the “special right triangle rule” or 28√3 in this case. This comes to 48.497 mm. To find the remaining length of the height, you can use the radii of the top and bottom circle which add to 56. Add this to the previous number. So...

Height: 104.497
Base: 112

Now multiply the base times height to get:

216.497 mm.

Hope that helps!

Pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
a^2 + 16^2 = 65^2
a^2 + 256 = 4225
a^2 = 3969
a = 63
Perimeter: add all sides
63 + 16 + 65 = 144
Solution: 144 feet
