Diabetes Mellitus or DM are a metabolic disorder characterized by the decreased ability to process glucose in the body. Usually split into two groups, Type 1 is one where a patient produces no insulin is hence incapable of regulating sugar which leads to dangerous levels of blood glucose (Hyperglycemia). Type II diabetics do produce insulin however this is more variable, with the body unable to process glucose or insulin levels either producing too much, too little, or insulin that is not efficient (insulin resistance).
