A box contains 5 plain pencils and 5 pens. A second box contains 3 color pencils and 5 crayon. One item from each box is chosen
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Hello! :)

What is the probability of choosing a pen from the first box? It is 5/10 = 1/2.

What is the probability of selecting a crayon from the second box? It is 5/8.

The probability of picking a pen from the first box and a crayon from the second box is 5/8 x 1/2 = 5/16.

Hope this helped and I hope I answered in time!

Good luck!

Select the point that is a solution to the system if inequalities yx^2-6
labwork [276]

Answer:

The correct answer is A.

A(0,-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Method 1

You just have to plot each point on the graph.

The one that falls within the solution region is the correct choice.

From the graph, A(0,-2) falls within the solution region.

See graph

Method 2

If you substitute the points into the inequalities, the only point that will satisfy both inequalities simultaneously is A.

The first inequality is

y\:

If we substitute A(0,-2), we get;

-2\:

-2\:

This statement is true.

The second inequality is

y\:>\:x^2-6

If we substitute A(0,-2), we get;

-2\:>\:(0)^2-6

This gives,

-2\:>\:-6

This statement is also true.

How do you solve <br> 8|x+2|-6=5|x+2|+3
sergejj [24]

Answer:

x = 1 or x = -5

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve for x over the integers:

8 abs(x + 2) - 6 = 5 abs(x + 2) + 3

Subtract 5 abs(x + 2) - 6 from both sides:

3 abs(x + 2) = 9

Divide both sides by 3:

abs(x + 2) = 3

Split the equation into two possible cases:

x + 2 = 3 or x + 2 = -3

Subtract 2 from both sides:

x = 1 or x + 2 = -3

Subtract 2 from both sides:

Answer:  x = 1 or x = -5

Jasmine wants to start saving to purchase an apartment. Her goal is to save $225,000. If she deposits $180,000 into an account t
Y_Kistochka [10]

The time it will take the principal to grow to the desired amount is 0.7 years

Using the compound interest formula :

A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt)

A = final amount = 225,000

P = principal = 180,000

r = rate = 3.12%

n = Number of compounding times per period = 12(monthly)

t = time

225000 = 180000(1 + (0.0312 /12))^(12t)

Divide both sides by 180000

225000/180000 = (1 + (0.0312 /12))^(12t)

1.25 = 1.026^12t

Take the log of both sides

0.0969100 = 0.0111473 × 12t

0.0969100 = 0.1337676t

Divide both sides by 0.1337676 to isolate t

0.0969100 / 0.1337676 = t

0.7244 years

0.7 years

It will take 0.7 years for the amount to grow
