The statement is - True.

The humans, as advanced and developed they may be, can not function and survive without the proper functioning of the biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, geosphere, cryosphere. All of those spheres are crucial in defining the life conditions on our planet, and the human kind, as all other living organisms, is heavily dependent upon them.

Unfortunately, the humans have been interfering a lot in the functioning of this systems, and make it harder and harder for them to function properly, and the interfering with the ecological systems is extremely dangerous as it can have a catastrophic consequences.

Answer: true

Explanation:

Biosphere is the layer of earth where life exists. This sphere interacts with other vital spheres of the earth like atmosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere so as to sustain life of various organisms. It is also called as ecosphere because the interaction of various ecosystems occurs in the biosphere. For example, diversity of organisms interact among themselves and form an ecosystem also distinct ecosystems interact among themselves to form a biosphere.

Humans are dependent upon biosphere and on the ecosystem for their needs such as food, water, shelter and other needs, without the fulfillment of these needs human species may not survive.

Therefore,  the statement Humans are dependent on a functioning biosphere and other ecological systems for survival is true.
