A large college wishes to determine the average SAT scores for students who apply from New York. They surveyed 105 students from
sweet [91]

Answer:

Statements I and II

Step-by-step explanation:

In Statistics, parameter is any numerical value that characterizes a population while statistics are numerical values that characterizes a sample from a given population.

Statistics are most often used to estimate the population parameters

For example the sample mean is a statistic and the population mean is a paranmeter

The mean SAT score of all students from New York is the parameter.

The mean SAT score of 105 students from New York is called the statistic.

The correct choice is the third option.

You are making a snack that includes 5/6 pound of almonds and 7/9 pound of cashews. Which is greater, the weigh of the almonds o
devlian [24]
To compare the answers, you need to have the same denominator.

We know that, 18 is a common denominator between 6 and 9.

(5/6)*3/3 => 15/18 (ALMONDS)
(7/9)*2/2 => 14/18 (CASHEWS)

As seen, the weight of almonds is 1/18 bigger than the cashews.

Hope I helped :)

PLEASE GUYS, I NEED YOUR HELP AND THE LAST DAY IS TOMORROW AND I DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER
Nitella [24]

Part 1:

1. What are some danger of positioning a ladder against a wall?

a. ground needs to be level with the wall

a ladder needs to be in good shape

a. most dangers are just in case the ladder falls or you fall

a Gravity is not your friend

a. Oh! Also, if the ladder isnt steady, Once you reach the top, if you get off, It could fall leaving you stranded.

The steepest ladder I personally would climb: TWO STORIES

The shallowest ladder I personally would climb: UP TO THE ATTIC

Part 2:

1. OSHA is an agency responsible for workplace safety, read its rule and sketch a diagram that shows the proper relationship between the ladder, wall and

2. Calculate the angle that the ladder makes with the ground using a trigonometric ratio.

a. How tall is the wall? how long is the ladder? What is the measurement of the space between the foot of the ladder and teh wall? I dont know where to find these measurements but as long as you know SIN, ICOS, and TAN, You should be alright as long as you have the measurements

Sine= opposite/ hypotenuse

Cosine= adjacent/ hypotenuse

Tangent= opposite/adjacent

Part 3.

1. Watch the video below about Pierce fire trucks. Assuming a ladder truck must follow the OSHA recommendation, what's the highest floor it can safely reach? Sketch a graph and use trigonometric ratios to explain.

a. Where's the video?

2. What might be a problem with a truck having to park 25 feet away from the base of the building?

a. It will take a little bit of walking to get to the building but unless it is a firetruck or an ambulance needed to be that close to a builing, I dont think there is an issue. If there is a firetruck with a ladder and it is 25ft away from the base of the building it will be REALLY difficult to get to the building from the ladder.

3. Imagine the fire department had to evacuate the 25th floor of an office building. For firefighters to safely reach people at this height how long would the ladder have to be and how much would it weigh? Based on this, do you think Pierce should manufacture this apparatus? Explain.

a. Sorry my guy, I don’t know this at all. The ladder would have to be longer than the 25th floor, that is for sure, I just don’t know how much longer.

4. If Pierce wanted to manufacture this ladder, what might they do to make it feasible to put on a truck?

a. Well they would make it so that it can fold up to the length of where-ever the ladder is held on the fire truck. Like they would any other firetruck ladder.

Part 4.

1. What are some advantages and disadvantages of having a ladder at a very shallow angle?

advantages:

•you can get to lower places.

•probably more stable

very shallow disadvantages

•can’t get to high places

•might have to crawl on top of the ladder (I mean if it is mostly horizontal then yea)

2. what are some Advantages and disadvantages of having a ladder at a very shallow angle?

Advantages:

•you can get to high places

Disadvantages:

•Way less stable

•gravity is prone to pull you down.

•You can’t get to lower places

4. What do you think this means for the angle of the ladder they’re willing or able to climb?

a. I don’t know what to think about. Why are these questions so vague? Maybe the ladder needs to be super sturdy but that is a given when you are saving lives.

5. In 2017, 71 people died when their London apartment building caught fire: the exterior of the 24-story building was lined with flammable panels, and residents weren’t sure whter to leave their apartments or wait for help. There are many things that cities do to try and keep their citizens safe. Which of the following do you think would be the most effective in preventing tragedies like the one in London? Explain your reasoning by showing the pros and cons of each one.

I think (b) is the answer

(a). buying trucks with ladders longer that 100 feet

Pros: in theory this works because the firefighters would be able to reach high up places, like apartment building windows

Cons: The issue in the London case had nothing to do with windows and everything to do the walls and the people not knowing what to do so it isnt this answer.

(b). require tall buildings to be made of concrete

Pros: The walls aren’t flammable

Cons: I am not sure honestly

(c). training people on fire safety procedures?

Pros: people would know what to do in the London case scenario

Cons: How are you going to teach the whole city?

6. If ladders are difficult for high floors, what are some other options? What is the level of safety of each of your options? Explain using mathematical facts.

Stairs, escalators, elevators, ramps, slides, maybe even a trampoline...

If ladders are difficult to use for high floors another very common options are stairs. you see them pretty much everywhere. Escalators and elevators are also used, elevators more often that escalators.

I don't know how to make
