Number the statements listed below in the order that they would occur in engine operation. Then, label these stages as intake, c

ompression, power, or exhaust. a. The fuel mixture is ignited by the spark plug, and the resulting explosion forces the piston down in the cylinder. b. The piston rises and compresses the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. c. The exhaust gases leftover from the combustion are released from the cylinder. D. Answer: D - 1

B - 2

A - 3

C - 4

Explanation:

The four-stroke cycle in Engine Operation is a series of processes beginning with the intake of air and fuel into valves, compression, combustion and subsequent release of gases to the atmosphere. The process begins with;

1. Intake Stroke - A mixture of air and fuel is drawn into the cylinder when the intake valves open. The downward movement of the piston causes the air and fuel mixture to be drawn into the cylinder.

2. Compression Stroke - The piston rises and compresses the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber near the spark plug. It occurs in a closed space. Ignition is made easy by causing energy release.

3. Power or Combustion Stroke - The fuel mixture is ignited by the spark plug and the resulting explosion caused by the mixture of air and fuel with oxygen, forces the piston down the cylinder.

4. Exhaust Stroke - The exhaust gases leftover from the combustion are released from the cylinder. This last stage is characterized by the opening of the exhaust valves and an upward push of the exhaust gases by the returning piston to the surrounding. The intake valve is closed at this stage.

Answer:1-D(intake) 2-B(compression) 3-A(ignition/power) 4-C(exhaust)

Explanation:

A four-stroke cycle engine is an internal combustion engine that utilizes four distinct piston strokes (intake, compression, power, and exhaust) to complete one operating cycle.

The intake event is when the air-fuel mixture is introduced to fill the combustion chamber

The compression stroke is when the trapped air-fuel mixture is compressed inside the cylinder

The power stroke is an engine operation Stroke in which hot expanding gases force the piston head away from the cylinder head.

The exhaust stroke occurs whenspent gases are expelled from the combustion chamber and released to the atmosphere.

How much power is needed to operate a Carnot heat pump if the pump receives heat 10°C and delivers 50 kW of heat at 40°C? at A)
mariarad [96]

Answer:

Power needed to pump=4.79 KW.

Explanation:

Given that:T_{1}=283K,T_{2}=313K,Q_{H}=50KW

We know that coefficient of performance of heat pump

 COP=\dfrac{T_{H}}{T_{H}-T_{L}}

So COP=\dfrac{313}{313-283}

      COP=10.43

COP=\frac{Q_{H}}{W_{in}}

      10.43 =\frac{50}{W_{in}}

W_{in}=4.79 KW

So power needed to pump=4.79 KW.
