Based upon relative frequency, it has been determined that 15% of all cars tested emit excessive hydrocarbons, 12% emit excessiv

e CO, and 8% emit excessive amounts of both. Let E and F denote the events that a randomly selected car emits excessive hydrocarbons and CO, respectively. Express the following events in terms of E and F and find the appropriate probabilities:
emissions of both hydrocarbons and CO are excessive

at least one emission is excessive

neither emission is excessive

hydrocarbon emission is not excessive

hydrocarbon emission is excessive, but CO emission is not

Answer:

P(F∩E)=8%

P(F∪E)=19%

P(F∪E)'=81%

P(E)'=85%

P(E)-P(E∩F)=7%

Step-by-step explanation:

If E denote the event that a randomly selected car emits excessive hydrocarbons and 15% of all cars tested emit excessive hydrocarbons, Then, the probability that a car emits excessive hydrocarbons is:

P(E) = 15%

At the same way, The probability that a car emits excessive CO is:

P(F) = 12%

Finally, if 8% emit excessive amounts of both, the probability that a car emits excessive hydrocarbons and CO is:

P(F∩E)=8%

it means that the probability that emissions of both hydrocarbons and CO are excessive is P(F∩E)=8%

On the other hand, the probability that at least one emission is excessive is the probability that the car emits excessive hydrocarbons or excessive CO and it is calculated as:

P(F∪E) = P(F) + P(E) - P(F∩E) = 15% + 12% - 8% = 19%

Additionally, The probability that neither emission is excessive is the complement of the last probability, so it is calculated as:

P(F∪E)' = 100% - P(F∪E) = 100% - 19% = 81 %

At the same way, the probability that hydrocarbon emission is not excessive is the complement of the probability of emit excessive hydrocarbon and it is calculated as:

P(E)' = 100% - P(E) = 100% - 15% = 85%

Finally, the probability that hydrocarbon emission is excessive, but CO emission is not is denoted and calculated as:

P(E) - P(E∩F) = 15% - 8% = 7%

5. In the triangle ABC. M is the midpoint of [AB] and N is the midpoint of [CM].
sweet [91]

Answer:

N(2,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the Question,

  • Given that, In the triangle ABC. M is the midpoint of AB and N is the midpoint of CM And A(-1, 3), B(7-3) and C(1,6).
  • Thus, For coordinates of N. first We have to find the Coordinate of M(x,y). As Given M is the Midpoint of A(-1, 3) and B(7-3).

Thus, M(x,y) = (-1+7)/2 , (3-3)/2 ⇒ M(3,0)

  • Now, As Given, N(a,b) is the Midpoint Of C(1,6) and M(3,0).

Thus. N(a,b) = (1+3)/2 , (6+0)/2  ⇒ N(2,3)

Can someone please help me with this question
kondor19780726 [428]
A.

To solve, you need to get the variable by itself.
Order of operations:
Square root both sides.
(x-5)= plus/minus root 3, as 3 is not a perfect square.
Now you need to add 5 to both sides to get it to disappear on the side with the x.

x=root3 +or - 5, which can be rearranged so that 5 is the first term.

A sports stadium has 10000 seats, divided into box seats, lower-deck seats, and upper-devk seats. Box seats sell for 10 dollars,
lesantik [10]

Answer:

Number of box seats = 1000

Number of lower deck seats = 5000

Number of upper deck seats = 4000

Step-by-step explanation:

Let number of box seats = x

Let number of lower deck seats = y

Let number of upper deck seats = z

As per question statement:

x+y+z=10000 ...... (1)

Cost for box seat = $10

Cost for x box seats = 10x

Cost for lower deck seat = $8

Cost for y lower deck seats = 8y

Cost for lower deck seat = $5

Cost for z lower deck seats = 5z

As per question statement:

10x+8y+5z=70000 ..... (2)

z = 4x ..... (3)

Putting value of y in (1) and (2):

x+y+4x=10000\\\Rightarrow 5x+y=10000 ....... (4)

10x+8 y+5\times 4x=70000\\\Rightarrow 30x+8y=70000 ..... (5)

8 \times (4) - (5):

10x =10000

\Rightarrow x = 1000

By (3):

z = 4000

Now, by equation (1):

y = 5000

Number of box seats = 1000

Number of lower deck seats = 5000

Number of upper deck seats = 4000
