The progressive era began in America during the 1890s. Social and political reform was widely seen in this period.
Reformers tried to address issues related to health problems, changes in working conditions along reducing corruption in government. The suffrage movement was a women's rights movement that helped women to get their role in politics and to run for office. In many ways, the period roughly corresponds to the Progressive Era, which was the high flow of Women rights and political activism.
This law violated the two amendments 13th and 14th. In the 13th<em>"badge of servitude"</em>, and in the 14th <em>"Constitution is color-blind, and neither knows nor tolerates classes among citizens."</em>
