Answer:

y = 2x - 5

slope = 2

y-intercept = -5

Step-by-step explanation:

You first have to find out the slope.

m = 3 - (-5)/ 4 - 0 = 8/4 = 2

m = 2

slope is 2

y- intercept is -5 because the point (0, -5) crosses the y-axis

you can also find the y-intercept by plugging the slope in for m in the equation y = mx + b.

y = 2x + b

Now we use one of the points to solve for b. I'll use the point (4, 3). Plug in 4 for x and plug in 3 for y.

3 = 2(4) + b

3 = 8 + b

-8 -8

-5 = b

-5 is the y-intercept.

Answers:
(1)
Option (B) 60.
(2) Option (C) 946.4 yd^2.
(3) Degree of the central angle for sector C = 126°.

Explanations:
(1)
The original area of parallelogram is = A = 120

Since
Area-of-parallelogram = (base)(height)
A = bh = 120

Now the base is reduced to one-fourth of its original length and height is doubled. Therefore the new Area will be:
A_{new} = ( \frac{1}{4} b)(2h)

Since bh = 120 (as stated above); therefore:

A_{new} = ( \frac{1}{2} bh)

A_{new} = ( \frac{1}{2} 120) = 60

So the new Area will be 60.

(2) The area of a regular polygon = Area = (1/2)(apothem) (perimeter).
perimeter = 8 * (side-length) = 8(14) = 112 yards

(8 because it's octagon)
Area = (1/2)(apothem) (perimeter)Area = (1/2)(16.9) (112)Area = 946.4 yd^2
(3) For this you need to know the sector-angle formula:

(Area-of-a-given-sector) / (Total Area) = (Degrees-of-the-central-angle)/(Total-degrees)

Area-of-a-given-sector = 0.35
Total Area = 0.35 + 0.15 + 0.5 = 1.0
Degrees-of-the-central-angle = ?
Total Degree = 360°

Plug in the values in equation:
0.35/1 = (Degrees-of-the-central-angle)/360°

=> Degrees-of-the-central-angle = 0.35 * 360° = 126°

arsen [322]
Unit walking rate in miles per hour = 5 2/3 / 2 2/3 = 17/3 / 8/3 = 17/3 x 3/8 = 17/8 = 2 1/8 miles per hour.

Unit walking rate in hours per mile = 1/ 17/8 = 8/17 hours per mile.

The sum of two numbers is 36. Twice the first number minus the second 6. Find the number.
just olya [345]

Answer:

14 AND 22

Step-by-step explanation:

LET THE LARGER NUMBER BE X AND SMALLER BE Y

X + Y = 36 …….1

2X – Y = 6…… 2

WE SOLVE SIMULTANOUSLY

ADDING EQATION 2 AND 1

2X + X + Y + (-Y) = 36 + 6

3X + Y – Y = 42

3X = 42

DIVIDING EACH TERM BY 3

3X/3 = 42/3

X = 14

THEN PUTTING X = 14 IN EQUATION 1

14 + Y = 36

Y = 36 – 14

Y = 22
