Hi!

The word outwards is simply just going to describe the process of going from an interior (inside) scene to an exterior (outside) scene.

Think of it almost as if someone is walking out the door to their house. They are leaving an interior and going out into an exterior.

Also, look at the word itself. We have <em>'out'</em> and then <em>'wards'.</em> We are going
<em>-->out<--wards.</em> It actually tells you exactly what the word means! =)<em> </em>

Hopefully, this helps! =)

Elenna [48]

Sentences can be formed by phrases or clauses, in this case the italicized words are a phrase. A phrase is a grammatical unit composed by a set of words without subject and predicate whereas a clause is a grammatical unit formed by a set of words that includes a subject and a predicate.

The noun phrase “Wishing to be heard” is modifying the noun “speaker” since it is providing an explanation of why the subject is performing an action.
