If a cell has 6 chromosomes in the G2 phase will have 12 sister chromatids during that same phase because replication of chromosomes occurs which produces two exact copies of each chromosomes. Then 6 chromatids are distributed in one daughter cell while the other 6 chromatids are distributed in other daughter cell and finally the cell division occurs.
