What did locations like Huntington Beach Park and Brookgreen Gardens offer visitors?
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:

They were a tourist destination for research and recreation.

Explanation:

Huntington Beach State Park was a small state park near Murrells Inlet, in Georgetown County, South Carolina which was owned by Anna Hyatt Huntington and Archer M. Huntington. It was leased after his death and leased to the state in 1960 for use as a state park. It had natural history displays and an education center which had live animals.

The center was destroyed on July 20, 2016 and was likely caused by a lightning strike. All of the animals on display within the Education Center were lost in the fire.

Brookgreen Gardens was a former rice plantation which was owned by Joshua John Ward and was known as ‘King of the Rice planters’.He was one of the largest American slaveholders of his time. The Brookgreen garden was then established by Archer Milton Huntington, Collins Potter Huntington, and Anna Hyatt Huntington. It also featured several American sculptures and a Zoo.
