Find the X- and y intercept -2x-4y=-20

Mathematics

We should change this equation to the slope-intercept form first. y = mx + b

So all we have to do is move the term with the x variable in it to the other side by adding it (inverse of a negative).

-2x - 4y = -20

+2x on both sides

-4y = 2x - 20

Now, we divide the whole thing by -4 to get y alone.

y = -1/2x + 5

To calculate for y, we must set x to 0.

y = 0x + 5

y = 5

To calculate for x, we must set y to 0.

(0) = -1/2x + 5

Move 5 by subtracting 5 to both sides.

-5 = -1/2x

Now we have to get x alone, to do that, we must divide by -1/2 on both sides.

10 = x

Answers:

y = 5
x = 10

Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line that passes through the points (7, – 4) and (3, -1).
Lena [83]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

y2-y1/x2-x1

-1-(-4)/3-7

3/-4

y=mx+b

For the y coordinate it can be either -4,or -1

-4=3/-4x+b

Add a meeting six people each one another by shaking hands. If each person must shake hands once with every other person in the
Phantasy [73]

The number of handshakes is the number of ways 6 objects can be selected 2 at a time.

.. C(6,2) = 6·5/(2·1) = 15

The appropriate choice is

... C) 15

_____

Consider that each person can shake hands with 5 others. That's a total of 6*5 = 30 handshakes, but it counts both A shaking with B and B shaking with A. If each pair of persons only shakes hands once, the number of handshakes is 30/2 = 15.

Which gives 28 + 24 as a product of the GCF and a sum?
VashaNatasha [74]

Answer:

b. 4 (7 + 6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Finding the GCF between 28 and 24:

We keep dividing while both numbers can be divided by the same factor. So

28 - 24|2

14 - 12|2

7 - 6

There is no number for which 7 and 6 are both divisible by, so the GCF between 28 and 24 is 4.

Simplifying in function of the GCF:

Now, we put 4 in evidence, and divide the rest of the expression by 4. So

28 + 24 = 4(\frac{28}{4} + \frac{24}{4}) = 4(7 + 6)

The answer is given by option b.
