If I weren't in the cell, it would collapse or burst, because it well lose its turgor pressure. Moreover, the cell won't have enough space to store all the water and molecules needed for conducting photosynthesis. I resemble the stomach in a human body; a stomach stores food and water for later use.
Organisms will adapt to their environment in order to survive. They will do whatever it takes to survive.
