Assignment Summary For this assignment, you will construct a scientific model of the water cycle to show how water is recycled t

hrough an ecosystem. Once you have drawn your model on a poster board, you will write one to two paragraphs explaining how water is transferred within and between organisms and the environment. Background Information Water is a very important compound. Organisms need water to carry out life-maintaining processes such as growth and development. Without water, living things will not survive. Water continually flows among the atmosphere, land, water, and living organisms. This process, called the water cycle, allows water to be recycled as it moves through Earth’s spheres. Materials Assignment Instructions Step 1: For this project, you are expected to submit the following: 1. Your model of the water cycle 2. One to two typewritten paragraphs describing the water cycle Step 2: Prepare for the project. a) Read through the guide before you begin so you know the expectations of this project. Pay particular attention to the instructions you need to follow to create a model on your poster board. b) If anything is not clear to you, be sure to ask your teacher. Step 3: Gather materials for the model. a) Start with a blank poster board. Be sure to put your name on it. b) You may either draw the parts of the water cycle or print images to construct a model on your poster board. Gather any drawing tools that you will need, or print any images you want to use. Step 4: Create a model of the water cycle. a) Your model should include bodies of water such as lakes and oceans, organisms, air, and land. b) Draw arrows indicating how water moves within an ecosystem and between organisms and their environment. Be sure to include the Sun and gravity in your model. c) Include short phrases on your poster that summarize what occurs at each stage of the water cycle.  Large poster board  Markers, crayons, or colored pencils  Scissors  Glue or tape Student Guide (continued) Step 5: Write a paragraph describing the water cycle. a) Type one to two paragraphs describing the full water cycle. Be sure to use full sentences and proper grammar.

Answer:

What is heredity? It is the biological process where the genes present in a DNA are transmitted by parents to their children, through the division of gametes. These genes carry the codes that form the genotypic and phenotypic characteristics, which allows a similarity between parents and children to occur.

3. What is the role of proteins associated with the DNA molecule that makes up the gene? Proteins are responsible for keeping the DNA line tightly compressed, maintaining the chromosome structure. In addition, they control the activities of the genes present in this DNA molecule, being essential in maintaining heredity.

4. How do chromosomes participate in gene transmission? As mentioned above, genes are part of DNA and DNA is the molecule that makes up chromosomes, in this case, chromosomes are molecules loaded with genes. In the human body, cells have 46 pairs of chromosomes, with the exception of gametes that have half that number. During the reproductive process, the gametes (reproductive cells) divide and produce a new being. The mother's gametes unite with the father's gametes to form a new being. Each gamete

How the fossil evidence helped you put the landmasses together (what was your process)
Otrada [13]

Explanation:

The idea behind using fossils to correlate two land masses was first put into limelight by a British geologist, Williams Smith.

According to the principle of fossil and fauna succession "fossils and fauna succeed one another in a define order".

This implies organisms evolve in predictable manner.

Since we know that certain types of organisms live within a period in time on the earth surface, we expect that such organisms would be fossilized in the geologic record and preserved.

  • Identify the fossil record in one part of the land mass. Log the rock types with the corresponding fossils in them.
  • On the other side, repeat the same process.
  • Look for unconformity surfaces where some part of the stratigraphic records might have been lost.
  • If the fossil records on one side corresponds with that on the other other side, it suggests that the land masses must have once been joined together.
  • The logic is that when the organism were on the same land mass, they thrived and lived together.
  • They became fossilized together till the lands separated.
