The runoff will be adversely affected if the 3/4th of the forest cover is removed because forest cover lowers the intensity of runoff by absorbing most of the water. The construction of house will increase the runoff due to little vegetative cover for the absorption of water and more water will runoff on the surface that will leads to flood condition in the lower elevated region of that area. The vegetative cover of the forest helps in preventing the flood condition by absorbing the runoff water.
