In Act 1 Scrooge is more closed off and grumpy, he isn't really kind to anyone and doesn't care about Christmas at all. He is scared of Marleys ghost but shows little belief in the paranormal or what Marley is telling him. In Act 2 scrooge is frightened by the ghosts at first but eventually opens up a bit and listens to them. Eventually scrooge starts to understand the true meanings of Christmas and shows more emotion towards the situation.
