Answer:

86 milkshakes and 63 ice cream were sold

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the amount of milkshake sold be x

Let the amount of ice cream sold be y

If  she sold 149 milkshakes and ice cream cones then;

x+y = 149 ... 1

If the milkshakes sold for $4 and the ice cream cones for $3, with total amount #533 collected then;

4x + 3y = 533 ....2

Solve both equations simultaneously

x+y = 149 ... 1  * 4

4x + 3y = 533 ....2 * 1

________________________

4x+4y = 596

4x+3y = 533

Subtract

4y-3y = 596-533

y = 63

since x +y = 149

x+63 = 149

x = 149 - 63

x = 86

Hence 86 milkshakes and 63 ice cream were sold

If a baseball player get a hit in 31% of his at-bats, what is the probability that he will
solong [7]

Given:

A baseball player get a hit in 31% of his at-bats.

To find:

The probability that he will  get a hit 5 at-bats in a row.

Solution:

Since, a baseball player get a hit in 31% of his at-bats, therefore

Probability that he get a hit = \dfrac{31}{100}

                                           = 0.31

Now, the probability that he will  get a hit 5 at-bats in a row is

P=0.31\times 0.31\times 0.31\times 0.31\times 0.31

P=(0.31)^5

P=0.0028629151

Therefore, the required probability is (0.31)^5 and it can be written as 0.0028629151 .
