Answer: C. 7.25, 7.7, 7 1 7

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we are given the weight , in ounces, of three different packages of cookies and we are told to arrange them in ascending order that is, from the least to the greatest.

The least of the numbers is 7.25. After then we have 7.7 and the greatest is 717. Therefore this can be arranged as:

7.25, 7.7, 7 1 7

Therefore, the correct option is C.

Radioactive isotopes are commonly used to estimate artifact ages. Let X be the time in years for a Carbon-14 atom to decay to Ni
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

a) 1 / years

b) P ( 5000 < X < 6000) =  0.06222

c) 8267 years

d) T_1/2 = 5730.25 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

- The decay constant λ = 1 / 8267

- X is an exponential random Variable

Find:

a. What are the units of What are the units of λ?

b. What is the probability the decay time is between 5000 and 6000 years?

c. Compute SD(X).

d. Compute the median decay time. The result is called the half-life of Carbon-14?

Solution:

- The decay constant λ means the rate at which the C-14 atoms decays into N-14 atom. The rate is expressed in units of 1 / year.

- The random variable X follows an exponential distribution which has a probability mass function and cumulative density functions as follows:

                    P ( X = t ) = λ*e^(-λ*t)

                    P ( X = t ) = e^(-t/8267) / 8267

                    P ( X < t ) = 1 - e^(-λ*t) = 1 - e^(-t/8267)

- The probability of the decay time between years 5000 and 6000 years is:

                    P ( 5000 < X < 6000) = 1 - e^(-6000/8267) - 1 + e^(-5000/8267)

                    P ( 5000 < X < 6000) =  0.06222

- The standard deviation of the exponential distribution is given by:

                    SD(X) = 1 / λ = 8267 years

- The median decay time for an exponential distribution is given by:

                    T_1/2 = Ln(2) / λ = Ln(2)*8267

                    T_1/2 = 5730.25 years

Y+1 y+8 y+2 y+7
kipiarov [429]

\dfrac{y+1}{y+2}+\dfrac{y+8}{y+9}=\dfrac{y+2}{y+3}+\dfrac{y+7}{y+8}

Write all fractions in terms of a common denominator:

\dfrac{y+1}{y+2}=\dfrac{(y+1)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)}{(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)}

\dfrac{y+8}{y+9}=\dfrac{(y+8)^2(y+2)(y+3)}{(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)}

\dfrac{y+2}{y+3}=\dfrac{(y+2)^2(y+9)(y+8)}{(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)}

\dfrac{y+7}{y+8}=\dfrac{(y+7)(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)}{(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)}

Then move all fractions to one side and simplify the numerator:

\dfrac{(y+1)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)+(y+8)^2(y+2)(y+3)-(y+2)^2(y+9)(y+8)-(y+7)(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)}{(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)}=0

The numerator dictates when the fraction reduces to 0. The denominator can never be 0, so we know that <em>y</em> cannot take any of the values -2, -9, -3, nor -8.

So the equation reduces to

(y+1)(y+9)(y+3)(y+8)+(y+8)^2(y+2)(y+3)-(y+2)^2(y+9)(y+8)-(y+7)(y+2)(y+9)(y+3)=0

Expand the left side; you would end up with

-6(2y+11)=0

2y+11=0

2y=-11

\implies\boxed{y=-\dfrac{11}2}

how to find the period, amplitude, and vertical shift of a sinusoidal graph. please explain in the simplest way possible, tyyyy
Kay [80]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a) period is the length of one cycle  ( one full squiggle ) If you are lucky and the graph is on exact numbers.. at a high point and to the next high point.. then just take that horizontal distance,  that's one period  also if it's not  you could find the period, T,  by using  T = 2pi / k    where k is a number that represents how fast , or how many times the wave cycles in one second or some other amount of time.

b) Amplitude is a number that goes right before the sinusoid, which is multiplied by it because,  sin , cos,  are at max 1 or at min -1

c)  vertical shift is what is added , for upwards shift... before or after the                      sinusoid  ie  sin , cos,  ect ect.

does this help?
