The number of bats in a colony is growing exponentially. After 2 years, there were 120 bats. After 5 years, there were 960 bats.

Answer:

7680 bats

Step-by-step explanation:

The number of bats in a colony is growing exponentially.

The formula for exponential growth =

y = ab^t

Where t = time in years

From the above question, we are told that:

After 2 years, there were 120 bats. After 5 years, there were 960 bats.

So we form an equation

120 = ab²...... Equation 1

960 = ab⁵ ....... Equation 2

Hence:

120/960 = ab²/ab⁵

1/8 = b²/b⁵

1/8 = 1/ b^5 - 2

1/8 = 1/b³

1/2³ =1/ b³

2^-3 = b^-3

b = 2

We solve for a

120 = ab²...... Equation 1

120 = a × 2²

120 = 4a

a = 120/4

a = 30

If the colony continues to grow at the same rate, how many bats are expected to be in the colony after 8 years?

Using the formula

y = ab^t

t = 8

a = 30, b = 2

y = 30 × 2⁸

y = 7680 bats

The drama club collected $160 from ticket sales for the spring play. They need to collect at least $400 to pay for new lighting
valentina_108 [34]
We assume all money is spent on new lighting. Since they currently have $160 and need $400 we can subtract what they currently have from what they need.

$400-$160 = $240

Since we know the price of the ticket and now know they need $240 we can divide our $240 with the price of each ticket ($3)

$240/$3 = 80

So the drama club has to sell 80 more tickets in order to afford new lighting

Match the surfaces with the verbal description of the level curves by placing the letter of the verbal description to the left o
irakobra [83]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1. (2/z)x^2 + (3/z)y^2 is an equation for an ellipse, so the answeris A.

2. We can rewrite this as x^2 + y^2 = 25 - z^2. This is theequation for a circle, so the level curves are circles. However,they are unevenly spaced, because the radius of each circle issqrt(25-z^2). So the answer is F.

3. Rewriting, we have y = z/x. This is the equation of a hyperbola(except when z = 0). So the answer is B.

4. Rewriting, we have x^2 + y^2 = z^2. This is the equation for acircle of radius z, so the level curves are evenly spaced circles.The answer is C.

5. Solving for x, we have x = 1 + 1/z. These level curves arevertical lines, which are obviously parallel. However, they areunequally spaced, since the distance between them gets smaller as zgets larger. The answer is E.

6. x^2 + y^2 = z is the equation for a circle of radius sqrt(z).They are unevenly spaced once again, because the radii do notincrease linearly with z. The answer is F.

7. Solving for y gives: y = (-2/3)x + z/3. This is the equation fora line of slope -2/3 with y-intercept z/3. These are parallelbecause they all have the same slope, and evenly-spaced becauseeach time we increase z by 1 the y-intercept moves up by 1/3. Theanswer is D.

Y'all I am struggling Use the following functions to find each value below. f(x)=5x; g(x)=−2x+1; h(x)=x2+6x+8
Anni [7]

Answer:

see below the first three problems

Step-by-step explanation:

f(g(-2))

First, find g(-2) using function g(x). Then use that value as input for function f(x).

g(x) = -2x + 1

g(-2) = -2(-2) + 1

g(-2) = 5

f(x) = 5x

f(5) = 5(5)

f(5) = 25

f(g(-2)) = 25

g(h(3))

First, find h(3) using function h(x). Then use that value as input for function g(x).

h(x) = x^2 + 6x + 8

h(3) = 3^2 + 6(3) + 8 = 9 + 18 + 8

h(3) = 35

g(x) = -2x + 1

g(35) = -2(35) + 1 = -70 + 1

g(35) = -69

g(h(3)) = -69

f(g(3a))

First, find g(3a) using function g(x). Then use that value as input for function f(x).

g(x) = -2x + 1

g(3a) = -2(3a) + 1

g(3a) = -6a + 1

f(x) = 5x

f(-6a + 1) = 5(-6a + 1)

f(-6a + 1) = -30a + 5

f(g(3a)) = -30a + 5
