2. A welder and a carpenter decided to get out of the construction industry and build farm trailers instead. From building a few

trailers on weekends, they estimated that the first trailer would take about $700 of their own labor to build and that an 85 percent learning rate can be anticipated on the cumulative average time as each trailer is built. (Note: They decided that their hourly wages should be no less than those they received in the construction trades.) The material costs for each trailer will be about $500, and the craftsmen do not see any way that this can be reduced. They estimate that each trailer can be sold for $1,000. In addition to making their wages on labor, they want to make 15 percent profit on the trailer materials. How many trailers must be built before this rate of profit can be realized

Answer:

Answer is explained in the explanation section below.

Explanation:

Data Given:

Material Cost Per Trailer = $500

Material Cost plus Profit Per Trailer (15%)  = $500 + 75 = $575

Selling Price = $1000

Labor Cost Remaining Per Trailer = $425

Formula to Calculate the number of Trailers:

X = X1 (N^{S})

Where,

N = number of Trailers

S = Slope Parameter

X = $425

X1 = $700

So, First we need to find the slope parameter, in order to calculate the number of trailers to be built.

S = \frac{log \alpha }{log 2}

where, α = 0.85 rate of improvement.

Plugging in the values into the formula, we get:

S = \frac{log (0.85) }{log 2}

S = -0.234

Now, we can easily find the number of trailers.

X = X1 (N^{S})

Plugging in the values,

425 = 700 x (N^{-0.234})

Solving For N, we get:

N = 8.4 Trailers

N = 9 Trailers.

Hence, 9 Trailers must be built in order to realize this rate of profit.

Mendoza Company's highest point of total cost was $80,000 in June. Their point of lowest cost was $65,000 in January. The compan
boyakko [2]

Answer:

The fixed costs per month are $50,000.

Explanation:

The problem can be presented as a system of 2 equations with 2 variables:

\left \{ {{80000=y + 16000*x} \atop {65000=y + 8000*x}} \right.

Where:

<em>y</em> are the fixed costs,

<em>x </em>are the variable costs per unit produced.

You can solve the system by the method you like. In this case im using the Gaussian Elimination method.

We start with the following AX = b matrix.

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}1&16000\\1&8000\\\end{array}\right] * \left[\begin{array}{ccc}y\\x\\\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}80000\\65000\end{array}\right]

We substract the second row by the first row.

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}1&16000\\0&-8000\\\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}80000\\-15000\end{array}\right]

We divide the second row by (-8000):

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}1&16000\\0&1\\\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}80000\\1.875\end{array}\right]

We substract the first row by 16,000 times the second:

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}1&0\\0&1\\\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}50000\\1.875\end{array}\right]

Multiplying this reduced matrix by the X matrix to interpret the results:

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}1&0\\0&1\\\end{array}\right] * \left[\begin{array}{ccc}y\\x\\\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}50000\\1.875\end{array}\right]

We can say that Mendoza Company's has<em> y = $50,000</em> fixed costs and each unit costs <em>x = $1.875</em> to produce. Therefore the answer to the problem is $50,000.

Assume that you own an investment that will pay you $15,000 per year for 12 years, with the first payment today. You need money
vlabodo [156]

Answer:

the rate of return is 8.41%

Explanation:

given data

Present value = $120,000

Future value = $0

PMT = $15,000

NPER =12 years

solution

We will applied the rate formula that is.

The NPER  reflects the time period.

and formula is that

NPER = Rate(NPER;PMT;-PV;FV;type)

so we get here

the rate of return is 8.41%

Until now, only injectable vaccines against influenza have been available. Parents are reluctant to subject children to the pain
Jobisdone [24]

Answer:

D) Adults do not contract influenza primarily from children who have influenza.

Explanation:

The conclusion from this argument is that there is no health benefit for the nasal spray vaccine since it was designed to be administered to children, but children rarely get influenza.

The only assumption that strengthens this conclusion is that children do not pass influenza to adults.

  • If this is true, plus the fact that children rarely get influenza, then why would anyone need an influenza vaccine for children.
  • If this assumption was false and children passed influenza to adults, then the conclusion would be wrong because a vaccine would be necessary to prevent children from passing influenza.

Which of the following is an example of groupthink? A. Everyone on the team agrees with whatever you have to say with very limit
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Groupthink is <u>a psychological phenomenon that occurs in groups, where people have a tendency to conform to whatever the group has to say, and thus lead to irrational behaviors and decisions. </u>

Thus, the best answer for the question would be (A) everyone on the team agrees with whatever you have to say with very limited discussion.
