Please answer this question with a short sentence: What can we deduce about the way in which society viewed the poor? (there is

information below to help you :D )
“Prisons”
Prisons were used for many reasons, but one of the most common reasons that they were used were for debtors.
Debtors’ prisons existed for those who could not pay for the goods and services they had obtained from businesses or creditors.
It was vey difficult for prisoners to be released, they had to buy their way out, many couldn’t do this!
They were small and overcrowded and had shocking conditions for inmates.
“Union Workhouses”
Workhouses were institutions created to house and employ the poor who could not house themselves or find paid work.
Under the Poor Laws, each local area had to provide this for the poor.
The work was often hard and repetitive, such as breaking rocks or grinding stones.
Men, Women and Children would be housed separately, so entering the workhouse could create a complete breakdown of a family. It was resisted by many.
“The Treadmill”
In the early Victorian period, a prison treadmill was a device used to extract labour from prisoners as a part of their sentence.
The treadmill had interior steps set into two cast iron wheels. These drove a shaft that could be used to mill corn, pump water or connect to a large fan for resistance.

Answer:

ok

Explanation:

The poor are not noticed as part of the society because they should suffer pain. Numerous research projects have pointed out how people are treated differently based on their appearance. Studies show that tall, thin, and athletically-built people are paid more than those who aren’t. If you’re female, dye your hair blonde and wear makeup and you’ll make extra money as well.

Snezhnost [94]

Answer: B. The setting.

Explanation: The setting of a story or a text is the place and time where the story takes place, it can also be the context of the story (political, historical, cultural, etc). In the given stanza from "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll, he seems to be describing the setting of the story, because he is describing a place where the story is going to take place ("Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe").

What is the thesis statement in "The road not taken"?
Ksju [112]

I my view it would be that feeling regret about making the wrong choices is irrelevant and useless; the important thing is to follow one’s heart and avoid choosing one of the roads because it has been taken by the majority of people. Furthermore, the road less traveled is not necessarily the road that has not been chosen by the majority of the people but actually the road that has been chosen for strictly personal reasons, regardless of how many people chose to take it.

Finally, the poem’s metaphor is very Christian, it is very similar to the New Testament verse, Matthew 7:14: “But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
