Think about the new law in Washington, D.C. Shoppers must pay a tax for throw-away bags. Do you think this was the best thing to
const2013 [10]

Answer:

Yes, I think it was the best thing to do. When people spend money on things they tend to appreciate their importance. Paying for carryout plastic and paper disposable bags would help people realize the danger extensive use of these bags have on the environment.

Explanation:

Anacostia River and Clean Up Act of 2009 was made with the idea of charging 5 cents for customers who do not bring their own disposable bags. This idea was accepted and signed into law by Washington DC.

This tax was the best thing to do as it would help people to become more wary and conscious of carelessly using disposable bags that damage the environment.

The public shall be notified by the bureau of a proposed action (in active voice)
miskamm [114]

Answer:

 • The bureau shall notify the public of a proposed action.

Explanation:

The original sentence is in passive voice: the public is not performing the action but receiving it. The passive voice uses the verb 'to be' + the past participle of the main verb: "shall be" + "notified".

The focus of a passive voice sentence is on the object and not on the subject: the public is the object; they will receive the act of the subject which is the bureau.

To change the passive voice to active voice, place the person who performs the action in the first part and change the tense of the verb to active form.

The subject that performs the action is the bureau. Thus, the active voice is:

 • The bureau shall notify the public of a proposed action.

Now, the focus of the sentence is on who performed the action; thus, this is the active voice.

Can someone please help me with an argumentative essay on the advantages of cell phones!!!!!!!!
Xelga [282]

Answer:

Hi! I don't know exactly what you want, but I can give you some tips and points to use.

POTENTIAL ARGUMENT POINTS:

- Safety : it is easy and fast to call emergency services

- Time-saving : being able to surf the web without a computer saves a lot of time, and time is money!

- Communication : cell phones keep us in touch with friends and loved ones

-World Access : We have the whole world at our fingertips and can connect to people around the globe.

TIPS:

- DO NOT FORGET A COUNTER ARGUMENT!!! For example, if you were arguing for the safety aspect, you could say something like, "Although it can be argued that cell phone use can cause harm to teens, cell phones contribute to a lot of kids' and teens' safety because ....blah blah blah."

- USE STATISTICS! Teachers eat that stuff up. Do not be afraid to just throw them into a paragraph to back something up.

That is pretty much all I can think of rn. Good luck! :)
