In this way, her job of taking photographs not only enhanced her skills but caused her to become more concerned for the welfare of these poor folks she was photographing. This photography journey, caused entriely by the Great Depression, opened up a whole new world for Lange. A world where she wanted to help those who were suffering and were not as blessed as her. The Great Depression turned Lange's career of photography into a career of bringing attention to those who were the neediest, bolstering the determination of not only the destitute but also others out there willing to help the needy just as she was.
