As the gymnast's legs exert that extra force, the beam is stretched more than normal and thus exerts a larger than normal force on the gymnast, causing her to fly up into the air and allowing her to perform her jump. One of the forces acting on the gymnast is gravity and weight. It also can be the way she jumps. But from whatit looks like its a really good 180 split jump/leap.
