the angle theta is in the second quadrant and cos theta = -2/√29 determine possible coordinates for point P on the terminal arm
Gekata [30.6K]

\cos(\theta)=-\frac{2}{\sqrt{29}} and $\theta$ lies in $2^{\text{th}}$ quadrant.

where, $x-$ coordinate is negative, and $y-$ coordinate is positive

so it can't a.

now, cosine means, side adjacent over the hypotenuse, in Cartesian plane, that will be $x-$ coordinate over the distance from origin.

Assume the triangle , with base $2$ units and hypotenuse $\sqrt{29}$ and it's in second quadrant. (so \cos(\theta)=-\frac{2}{\sqrt{29}})

now, the leftmost point on $x-$ axis is , obviously $(-2,0)$

and by Pythagoras theorem, we can find the perpendicular side, that will be $y^2=(\sqrt{29})^2-(2)^2\implies y=5$

so the coordinates of the upper vertex is $(-2,5)$, each point lying on this "ray" should have equal ratio of respective coordinates. i.e. $\frac25=\left|\frac xy\right| $

and it should lie on second quadrant, so $x<0 \, y>0$

Option d satisfies this.

Can someone help with this question?
ivann1987 [24]

You solve an expression for a variable if that variable sits alone on one side of the equation, and everything else is on the other side.

So, our goal is to leave h alone on the right hand side, and move everything else to the left.

So, we start with

V = \dfrac{1}{3}s^2h

We multiply both sides by 3:

3V = s^2h

We divide both sides by s^2

\dfrac{3V}{s^2} = h

To compute the required height, simply plug in the values:

\dfrac{3\cdot 400}{10^2} = \dfrac{3\cdot 400}{100} = 3\cdot 4 = 12

yawa3891 [41]

<u><em>Step 1: Add Andy's and April's amount of pie together:</em></u>

<u><em /></u>

Andy and April ate 3/10 of the pie and 2/10 of the pie, respectively.

3/10 + 2/10 = 5/10.

So both of them ate 5/10 or 1/2 of the pie.

Find all 2-digit natural numbers that have exactly three factors.<br> Thanks!
Tasya [4]
If the number has 3 factors, the factors would be 1, the number itself, and a a number that could square into it... meaning that you are finding numbers that are 2-digit, postive, perfect squares with no other factors besides 1 and itself. 49 is the only number that will work.
